Step 6. Do I need a Trash Gate?
PRO-ECO-LITE (tm) COMPOSITE HEADWALL STRUCTURES
Canada Patented - US Patent Nos: D477,543 - D477,544
US Patent Pending
TRASH GATES
***Traditionally used on inlet headwalls to control debris and eliminate pipe plugging in
streambeds and culverts and available for all headwalls both weir and non-weir types.
Available in various opening sizes to accommodate control of trash or prevent animals such as
beavers from nesting in the culvert pipe.
Order Code:
TGV-- Vertical bar hinged trash gate at 8" on centre.
TGM-- Municipal Standard trash gate - 8" x 4.75" opening on centre.
TGB-- Beaver deterrent trash gate max. 5.5" x 4.75" on centre.
TGSV-- Sluice Gate - Trash Gate at 5.5" on centre.
* All vertical members of the trash gates are pultruded composite reinforced polymer concrete
rod 1.5" diameter. These rods have approximately the same load to failure resistance as
20mm diameter steel rod, the added benefit is that they have memory and will always spring
back after impact as opposed to permanent bending of the steel rod which is more common
on traditional headwalls.
* Custom trash gates, stainless steel and composite locking mechanism available upon
request. Colour coated in safety or hazard designated colours available on request.
MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS
Class 1 FIRE RETARDANT non-corrosive pultruded rod, tubing and polymer concrete are
combined resulting in a proprietary process to fabricate the structural design profile of the
Trash Gates.
Trash Gates- Available in 4.75" and 8" mesh on centre vertical bar as per BC Master
Municipal Spec. and the Beaver resistant 5.5" x 4.75" mesh on centre trash gate also
available.
The material exhibits chemical resistance with high mechanical and electrical properties. The
mechanical properties are further enhanced by the incorporation of proprietary polymer
concrete into the tubing profile. The result is an integral gridwork that is exceptionally strong
with high load bearing and impact strength capabilities.
All hinge hardware is non-corrosive UHMW c/w stainless steel fasteners and inserts.
The resulting product would be very hard on beaver teeth due to the abrasive polymer concrete
incorporated in the tubing supports. Low maintenance is a result of all components exhibiting
superior physical and chemical properties.
